1. With the winter session of the Karnataka legislature beginning on Monday, December 19 in Belagavin, the political activity is shifting to north Karnataka and eventually the border town over the weekend. This session takes on special importance because the border row with Maharashtra has been the protagonist of these fortnight. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be in Bad village of Haveri district today with Revenue Minister R. Ashok.

2. PHANA, the private hospital association, is organizing its 3rd national health summit – a two-day event – from today. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will inaugurate the summit. CN Ashwath Narayan and Dr. K. Sudhakar will participate as chief guests. It will be held at Sheraton Grand Gateway, Brigade Gateway, Rajajinagar from 11:00 am onwards.

3. The Alternative Law Forum celebrates its 22nd year by organizing a conference on ‘The Constitution of India as a Document for Social Reform and Future Challenges’. Dr. S. Muralidhar, Chief Justice of Odisha High Court, is the keynote speaker. He has Activist, writer and theater artist Saraswati will be the guest speaker at St. Joseph’s College of Law auditorium, Residency Road, from 10.30 am onwards.

4. The opening ceremony of the Blood Center in Sankalp, the Kindergarten in Sankalp and the Thalassemia Day Center in Sankalp. Film actor Jackie Shroff will be the guest of honour. The inaugural program is at Dr. Ambedkar Bhavan on Miller’s Road in Vasanth Nagar from 11.30 am onwards.

5. Surabharathi Sanskrit and Cultural Foundation will present a Bharatanatyam performance by the students of Sridevi Nrithyalaya, Chennai. It will be held at the Foundation premises, 9th Main C, Service Road, Beside BWSSB water tank, Block 1, HRBR Layout from 6:30 PM onwards.

2. Tourism Minister Anand Singh inaugurated the renovated bathing ghat on Netravati river Kannada, Culture and Energy Minister V. Sunil Kumar, Dharmasthala Pattadhikari and rajya Sabha MP D. Veerendra Heggade, Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja, Dharmasthala at 10 am.

3. Minister of Energy, Kannada and Culture V. Sunil Kumar inaugurated the Kannada Medium Awards ceremony for students from Kerala and Goa, Honorary Secretary of Kannada Sahitya Parishat VC Channe Gowda, Kasargod MLA NA Nellikunhu, Manjeshwara MLA AKM Ashraf, Kasargod. Deputy Commissioner Bhandari Swagath Ranaveer, Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Saxena and mutt seer Sri Sachchidananda Saraswathi Swamiji Yedaneer will be present.
