‘TS deploying tech for affordable, accessible healthcare’

Telangana is one of the few states in the country that uses technology to make healthcare accessible to all. It is also one of the few that has a dedicated cancer care network in association with tertiary hospitals, said Vakati Karuna, Education Secretary and former Commissioner, Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare.

He said this while addressing a conference on ‘Healthy Heart for a Better Tomorrow’ organized by Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FTCCI) trying to highlight the importance given to health by the State government. Public health is a priority and in the eight years since the formation of Telangana there has been a significant drop in mortality rates, as well as the number of malaria and TB cases.

Communicable diseases are also under control, said Ms. Karuna, who was felicitated at the event for her contribution to the health sector, FTCCI said in a statement.

FTCCI President Anil Agarwal, Cardiac Surgeon AGK Gokhale and ASCI CEO Nirmalya Bagchi were among those who spoke.
