TSWRSS student all set to join NDA

Avula Umakanth, a cadet from the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Sainik School (TSWRSS) in Rukmapur, is all set to join the National Defense Academy (NDA) in Pune and undergo Indian Air Force (IAF) officer pilot training in December. He becomes the second cadet from Rukmapur Social Welfare Residential Sainik School to join the prestigious NDA since the school’s inception in 2018.

Saini School was established to train boys from socio-economically weaker sections for a career in the Indian defense forces.

“I sincerely thank the government for starting an exclusive Saini school for less privileged students like me, without which I would not have dreamed of becoming an IAF pilot in my wildest dreams considering my poor economic background. I am looking forward to serve the nation with great pride and honour,” said Cadet Umakanth.

A native of Bibinagar, cadet Umakanth’s father works as a data entry operator while mother is an anganwadi teacher. Cadet Umakanth attributes his success to the training he received at Saini School and the support of TSWREIS Secretary Ronald Rose.

“This is a moment of great honor and pride for Telangana to see a young lad from such a less privileged background being selected for the IAF in the officer cadre,” said Koppula Eeshwar, Minister for Scheduled Castes Development Department. He appreciated the dedicated efforts of Mr. Rose and his team.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and Chief Secretary Rahul Bojja also congratulated Cadet Umakanth for his outstanding feat and thanked the staff of Saini School for their commitment and dedication, a press release said on Friday.
