KALPETTA: Two giant trailers that were parked at the foot of the Thamarassery Ghat for the past two months have crossed the ghat. The trailers loaded with industrial filter chambers for Nestlé, which were parked on the slopes, climbed the pass after 11:00 p.m. and arrived at Lakidi around 02:10 a.m.

They stopped two months ago due to concerns that traffic would be disrupted when the trailers were brought up to the ghat. The tow trucks started their journey from Adivaram around 11 pm. A police team led by Thamarassery DySP TK Ashraf accompanied the trucks. Tehsildar C Zubair and Forest Ranger Rajeev Kumar also reached the ghat. Fire brigade, forest department and KSEB officials were also present at the spot for services after passing the trailers.

The trailer loaded with heavy machinery stopped in two places on the first curve. But the journey resumed and the fourth bend was passed at 12.20 and finally reached at 2.10. A large number of people were there to watch the trailer go by.

An alternative route was also arranged from the district towards Kozhikode via Thamarassery Ghat after 8 pm on Thursday night in view of the passing of the trailers. The arrangement was made based on a meeting chaired by ADM NI Shaju.
