Vijayawada (NTR District): Telangana High Court Justice B Shiva Sankara Rao (Retd) said that Vijayawada has enormous solar energy potential and it should be harnessed. He suggested that Vijayawada should work towards creating power supply systems for remote areas and focus on providing decentralized renewable solar energy by reducing grid dependency.
He inaugurated a lecture on ‘Energy security for Atmanirbhar Bharat’ at the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada on Monday.
The conference was attended by actors working in the fields of energy, culture and sustainability, from various fields, such as administration, political leaders, academics and start-ups. Power Foundation of India in association with Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) is running a campaign to create awareness about Agni Tattva by organizing LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment and conference. This campaign includes conferences, seminars, events and exhibitions across the country involving educational institutions, communities and relevant organizations to create awareness about the basic concept of Agni Tattva, an element synonymous with energy and among the five elements of Pancha mahabhoot. .
Justice Shiva Sankara Rao suggested that the focus should be on providing decentralized renewable solar energy across Vijayawada. He further said that geothermal energy is another focus area with immense potential in the Vijayawada region.
Dr. N Sivaraman, Distinguished Scientist and Director, IGCAR Materials Chemistry and Metal Fuel Cycle Group, emphasized the interdependent world. NPTI Director General Tripta Thakur spoke on Energy Security, while Dr. Kailasa Rao, School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, gave a session on the concept of ‘Energy from the perspective of Indian Temples’.
