Mumbai: Streamer ZEE5 has announced that Malayalam film “Ini Utharam” will have its digital release on the platform on Friday.
Directed by Sudeesh Ramachandran and written by Ranjith Unni, the investigative crime drama directed by Aparna Balamurali received positive reviews when it released on 7 October.
Manish Kalra, Business Director, ZEE5 India, said that they are happy to add another blockbuster Malayalam film to their existing film portfolio.
“The film explores various themes like thriller, murder mystery, crime drama and revenge, which gives the audience a true blockbuster entertainment experience.
“We will continue to strengthen our Malayalam content funnel with quality content in partnership with the best talent in the region,” Kalra said in a statement.
National Award winner Balamurali along with Harish Uthaman, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Chandhunadh, Siddique, Jaffar Idukki and Siddharth Menon complete the cast of the film.
“Ini Utharam” revolves around Dr. Janaki (Balamurali), who enters a police station and confesses a murder to Circle Inspector (CI) Karunan (Shajohn).
“While the CI tries to ignore it, there is pressure from the media and local people and the police are forced to explore all options.
“With Janaki’s help, the police search for the body, but things take a turn when they discover two bodies, Janaki says she didn’t kill them. What happens next is the crux of the story,” reads the film’s synopsis.
“Ini Utharam” is produced by A&V Entertainments.
